Hello! I’m an artist and farmer from Uganda. I hold a Bachelor of Industrial and Fine Arts degree and have over nine years of experience working with international organizations such as All Across Africa / KAZI, Rose and Fitzgerald, and AKOLA. I am skilled in sourcing and procuring sustainable materials (many of which come from my personal farm), designing and making samples, and leading artisans in product development training and internal workshop capacity building.
Portfolio
From planting, material sourcing and processing, dyeing, welding molds, designing for samples to production training, I can do it all.
The fibers used to make each product sample are sourced and processed on my farm in Wakiso, Uganda. The materials used for production are locally sourced.

Weaving Techniques
Wrap-Skip Weave

Braided Weave

Twisted Cattail Weave
This simple twist weave technique is easy to learn and saves on production time. It’s also very sturdy and durable, which is great for coasters, placemats, and baskets.

Makenge Basket Technique
The Makenge Basket Technique originates from Zambia using the makenge root plant. Traditionally, these baskets are given as gifts and have a unique pattern used to convey positive messages to the receiver.
Utilizing the traditional 3D technique with papyrus wrapped raffia, I elevated these baskets to a more modern look.

Sustainability Initiatives

In 2022, I partnered with All Across Africa / KAZI to implement a replanting project. We would replant materials that were used in production and ensure that those materials were not harmed or harmful to the environment.
Personally, I would teach the neighborhood teenagers about this practice and encouraged them to plant sustainable materials at their homes.

Volunteer Initiatives
In April 2023, I painted a sensory maze path for Malvern Elementary School in McKinney, TX. The path helps students work off their excess energy or develop their motor skills.
